Corporate Information

YKK AP Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hidemitsu Hori) announced that to deal with the increased demand for vinyl windows in the Tokyo metropolitan area, the company will be adding a new production line at the YKK AP “Saitama MADO (Window) Plant” (Shobu-cho Dai, Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture), which, in July 2021, will be marking 10 years since the commencement of operations.

The new production line will be producing “APW 330”—a high thermal insulation vinyl window that is a core product for the company. High efficiency production, such as vinyl frame cutting, welding and component mounting, and automated conveyance, will be carried out in the new line, which will utilize original production equipment developed in-house. “Low-E insulating glass,” with superior thermal insulation performance, and “heat-resistant tempered glass,” which is used in areas designated as fire prevention / quasi-fire prevention districts, are also manufactured at the plant. The “APW 330” production line carries out its production in single-house-units, enabling the provision of a timely supply of windows to residential construction sites with a focus around the Tokyo metropolitan area with a focus on the Kanto region.

The company is engaged in manufacturing reform by enhancing technological capabilities and the promotion of smart factories. The new line that will be added at this time will boost the vinyl window production capacity of the Saitama MADO (Window) Plant 1.4 times from current levels through the achievement of manpower reduction and high efficiency production. Capital investment for the new production line will amount to approximately 1.3 billion yen.
